## Overview

GLM is Z.AI’s foundation-model family. Developers submit messages, code context and tool definitions through an API to receive text, structured data or tool requests, which the host application executes. The GLM-5 documentation covers thinking modes, streaming, context caching and JSON output for coding assistants, extraction systems and agents. Zhipu Qingyan is a separate application using model capabilities.
